Abstract

Chronic kidney disease of unknown aetiology (CKDu) describes CKD that is not attributable to traditional, known, risk factors. Since early 2000s, CKDu frequency has been reported as increasing globally but especially in developing countries. CKDu has received little attention in developed countries. This study aimed to identify geographical foci of renal disease diagnoses (Dx) in South East Queensland (SEQ) and the Darling Downs (DD), Australia, attributed to an “Uncertain” Dx where the treating clinician is uncertain of the primary renal disease.
