Abstract

Podocyte injury is an important factor contributing to the initiation and progression of glomerular sclerosis. It is implicated in a variety of renal diseases. Most of them are known to be caused by oxidative stress. It is, therefore, highly desirable to find more effective therapeutic approaches against oxidative podocyte injury. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is a gaseous mediator that has multi-faced biological activities. It also has antioxidative property. Here, we tested whether and how hydrogen sulfide affected oxidative podocyte injury.
