Abstract

After the wide-spread use of IV iron since1989, iron balance in hemodialysis patients shifted from deficiency to overload. Iron overload in hemodialysis patients increases morbidity of infection and cardiovascular diseases. Los of lab indexes were used to assess iron load, including: hemoglobin, serum ferritin(SF) and TSAT, which were affected by multiple factors. Liver biopsy was considered as the golden standard, but with high cost and potential risk. MRI assessment Liver Iron oncentration (LIC) (liver T2*) were used for replacing liver biopsy.
