Abstract

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a serious, systemic inflammatory condition which carries a significant risk of mortality and morbidity. Patients with lupus nephritis (LN) are particularly susceptible to infection due to significant and aggressive immunosuppression requirement in the interest of end-organ preservation. In an Australian context, little data exist regarding the rate of serious infections in lupus patients, with or without LN.
