Abstract
The author shares a personal account of her experiences in a summer work program at a birthing center where certified nurse‐mi dwives deliver babies in a warm and homelike atmosphere, where births are personalized and participation of family and friends is welcomed. The author also explains her objectives in enrolling in the work program and evaluates her experience in terms of them.
