Abstract

Mathematical and physical scale models have been used successfully for over 60 years to predict and extrapolate the ferromagnetic signatures of surface ships and submarines. The two general classes of ship models are the forward and inverse. The forward class can be broken down further into physical scale and math models, while inverse models are semiempirical in nature.
