Abstract
Cancer and chemoradiotherapy have a significant adverse impact on the quality of life (QOL) of cancer patients. With the advent of new and more effective cancer therapies, patients with cancer are surviving longer than in the past. This has led to increased importance for maintaining good QOL in cancer patients. Therefore, a great emphasis has been placed on QOL assessments in cancer clinical trials and in clinical practice through the administration of QOL instruments such as the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC) and the Functional Assessment of Chronic Illness Therapy (FACIT) instruments.
