Abstract

At the current level of differentiation of sciences, the achievements of each of them can be compared with a quote taken out of context. We know that such a procedure is highly risky since it may change the main message fundamentally. In the framework of epistemology, the context is the totality of the results of all sciences, i.e., all modern knowledge about the object of study; in our case, it is the knowledge about the planet Earth. To mitigate the inevitable detachment of the modern sciences from this context to some extent, the Planet Earth System Interdisciplinary Workshop (Conference) has been held at the Department of Geology of Moscow State University for 25 years. During the workshop, the representatives of a broad range of natural sciences and humanities discuss the problems of our planet.
