Abstract

We show that the sum rules in the lower and upper Hubbard bands in the optical spectra of the attractive Hubbard model in the large ‖ U‖ limit are determined by nearest-neighbour spin correlation functions of the Heisenberg Hamiltonian in finite field. The optical weights are remarkably sensitive on the spin order, and thus the ground state can be directly investigated by optical spectroscopy.
