Abstract
We derive a mode-independent sum rule for the space-like component of the nuclear four-vector current. The energy-weighted sum rule for the time-like component is also obtained as a result of the conservation of electric charge. Furthermore, in the long wave-length limit, it reduces to the classical energy-weighted sum rule for photoexcitation. The four-vector current density of the Tassie model is obtained as a special case.
