Abstract

Abstract A critical review of the technique of frequency-resolved photoluminescence spectroscopy reveals a rigorous sum rule for the quadrature-response frequency-resolved spectra which can be easily evaluated experimentally. Its application offers the possibility of a quantitative check for radiative recombination outside the time resolution of the individual experiment. The interpretation of the quadrature-response frequency-resolved spectra in terms of different statistical variables is discussed.
