Abstract

ABSTRACT The effect on the physicochemical properties of calamitic liquid crystals of introducing sulphur atoms into their terminal, linking, and lateral groups is discussed and rationalized in terms of existing theories; a comparison is made with the corresponding oxygen-containing and other reference liquid crystals.
