Abstract The removal of sulphate ions from the chlorine production process is essential for optimal plant operation. Andrew Barr of Kvaerner Chemetics, Canada, describes the development and operation of a nanofiltration membrane system that is said to be environmentally preferable and more cost effective than existing sulphate removal processes.
