Abstract

There is a growing interest in the nature and properties of the sulfur-containing components of soil organic matter which constitute the bulk of the total sulfur in many soils, particularly in humid regions. Their characterization is of particular importance in the numerous areas where there is a deficiency of available inorganic sulfate and the organic sulfur is the only reserve source of supply.
