Abstract
The effectiveness of sulfur applications on tetranychid mites attacking cotton in California was evaluated. A finely ground dust formulation provided effective control of the strawberry spider mite, Tetranychus atlanticus McGregor, particularly when used in repeated applications. The two-spotted spider mite, T. urticae (Koch) and the Pacific spider mite, T. pacificus McGregor, populations may be suppressed, although complete control of either species was not obtained. A coarsely ground, lowpurity dust formulation and a sprayable formulation did not provide effective control.
