Abstract

Abstract The influence of sulfur compounds on the kinetics and mechanism of the thermal decomposition of hydrocarbons is described. The reactivity of some organic and inorganic sulfur compounds under the conditions of initiated pyrolysis from the viewpoint of acceleration of the radical decomposition of hydrocarbons, selectivity improvement towards the desired alkenes and decrease of secondary reactions, the consequence of which is coke formation, are discussed.
