Abstract

A new genus and species, Sulawesimetopushenryi Herczek, Gorczyca & Taszakowski, sp. n., are described from Sulawesi, Indonesia. Photographs of the male and female habitus and male genitalia are presented and a short comparison with morphologically similar genera is drawn.

  • The new species can be distinguished from all others belonging to Gigantometopus, Astroscopometopus and Isometopidea by its body structure, combination of color, and metric features

  • The following metric features distinguish Sulawesimetopus henryi sp.n.: head width to vertex width ratio 3.55, head width to pronotum width 0.51, antennal segments II:I length ratio 5.96, pronotum width to head width 1.94
