Abstract

Chemicals application is very significant for control of disease and insect infestation in sugar cane crop. The problem observed with existing practice is inefficient spraying due to inconvenience of operation as workers are prone to injuries and working above shoulder height results in postural stresses as sugar cane being a tall crop. To overcome these issues, a novel approach to develop canopy sprayer for sugar cane crop based on the application of mechatronics and ergonomics is worked out that consists of self-propelled e-powered unit, sensor-based foldable spraying system, operable conditioned system with control monitor unit. It will be equipped with variable height platform for safety and comfort of operator along with effective spraying at desired height.
