Abstract

A similarity solution has been obtained for a flow between two parallel plates (rectangular or circular) approaching or receding from each other with suction or injection at the porous plate. Approximate analytic solutions based on the regular perturbation technique are given and a numerical solution of the resulting nonlinear differential equations is presented. The effects of injection and suction on the velocity profiles, pressure distribution and shearing stress on the wall are studied. In the case of the flow between circular plates the effects on load capacity due to mass transfer are investigated.
