Abstract

In their article, the authors discuss the use of auditory teaching aids in foreign language teaching with particular emphasis on authentic materials (original, source, borrowed), i.e. arising in natural and real, not didactic communication situations. In the text we find the characteristics of selected, auditory teaching aids (audiobook, radio and podcast), their history and the benefits of their use in foreign language teaching, specified by the authors. The authors explore the factors influencing the selection of auditory teaching resources depending on the objectives pursued. The article includes also terminological findings around the notions: didactic resources (and related terms, e.g. school aids, educational measures), radio drama, audiobook, podcast. The following methods are used to achieve the goals: critical analysis of the literature and own observation during the course of classes with the participation of discussed didactic means in work with children and young people.
