Abstract

Sensory development of human beings is present since early life stages before birth; sensitive mechanisms prepare the new child for the first survival challenges. When a new being is born it faces the challenge of breathing and feeding by itself; for this reason sucking and swallowing reflexes and the sense of taste learned in the mother’s womb are refined in the newborn. This prenatal activity has become more evident with the use of third and fourth dimension diagnostic technology which allow us to increase our knowledge in the new and wonderful, womb s world. This paper highlights the importance of prenatal development stage of sucking, swallowing and taste as well as the clinical manifestations of failure of these mechanisms for functional and physical aspects which should be studied by specialists.
