Abstract

SummaryA 98‐year‐old female was referred to our institution for thoracic intervention following the inadvertent aspiration of a button battery. She underwent rigid bronchoscopy using Transnasal Humidified Rapid‐Insufflation Ventilatory Exchange (THRIVE) for oxygenation, rather than traditional techniques, such as jet ventilation or oxygen insufflation via the bronchoscope. We believe this is one of the first published case reports of the use of THRIVE for rigid bronchoscopy in a nonagenerian and outline our experience using THRIVE and the evidence behind the technique.
