Abstract

We report an unusual case of intravitreal ganciclovir-resistant cytomegalovirus (CMVR) retinitis in a patient with psoriasis taking immunosuppressant medications, who responded to intravitreal foscarnet. A 37-year-old male patient presented with signs of CMVR (dense vitritis, retinal necrosis, and intra-retinal hemorrhages). He was resistant to treatment with intravitreal ganciclovir but responded well to intravitreal foscarnet. He was followed up for 4 months, and complete resolution of the lesion with improvement of vision was observed. Management of ganciclovir-resistant CMVR is challenging, intravitreal foscarnet is effective in such cases.
