Abstract

Summary When a suspected infringement of the provisions of a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) is reported, it is imperative that a set procedure should be followed in the recording and collating of all information which may be required for possible legal proceedings. Two recent prosecutions of unauthorised work to trees subject to TPOs in the Borough of Surrey Heath are described in this paper and illustrate the importance of following a systematic documentation of all information on an agreed recording procedure.
