Abstract

Low vision rehabilitation programs in developing nations have been initiated with the help of international foundations and agencies working in conjunction with private organizations, government agencies, and medical institutions. One partner that has proved successful, for both clinical care and education, is an academic program of optometry, as exemplified by the Bachelor of Optometry program, Tribhuvan University, Kathmandu, Nepal and Low Vision Project Jordan, with Jordan University of Science and Technology, Irbid, Jordan. The World Council of Optometry provided fellowship support to both of these programs during its development.
