Abstract

A 45-year-old, right-handed man presents with a 1-year history of a pigmented lesion of the right thumb nail bed. No palpable axillary lymph nodes are present. Excisional biopsy reveals malignant melanoma with a Breslow thickness of 0.8 mm, no evidence of ulceration, and a mitosis rate of 2/mm2.
