Abstract
Xanthomonas oryzae pv. oryzae KACC10331 is a plant pathogenic bacteria and causative agent of blight disease in rice. It is virulent for different rice varieties and represents resistance towards different antimicrobials. Proteins of pathogenic bacteria, non-homologous to the host rice plant denote potential antimicrobial targets. The present study is focused over the identification of potential antimicrobial targets in X. oryzae pv. oryzae KACC10331. Entire proteomes of pathogen and rice were compared and analysed for identification of non-homologous proteins. One hundred and fifty-two protein sequences showed no similarity. Furthermore, it was checked whether these proteins are essential or not. Thirty-seven proteins were identified as essential for the pathogen. KEGG pathway analysis was implemented for their function identification followed by virulence prediction. Finally, four proteins were identified as virulent which can be used as potential antimicrobial target against this particular pathogen.
