Abstract

AbstractIn the paper we present positron annihilation studies of the subsurface zones created below pure magnesium surface exposed to sliding. We used the conventional positron techniques i.e. positron lifetime spectroscopy and DSIP (Depth Scanning of the positron Implantation Profile) method, and variable positron energy beam technique. The obtained results suggest the creation of dislocations zone during dry sliding in the subsurface which weakly localize positrons. (© 2007 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, Weinheim)
