Abstract
Taking as the starting material the Bi 2SrNb 2O 9 Aurivillius oxide, it has been demonstrated that the Bi 3+ ions in the (Bi 2O 2) 2+ layer can be replaced by other p-cations possessing a stereochemical active lone pair of electrons. In this way, Bi 2− x Sb x S rNb 2O 9 and Bi 2− y Pb y SrNb 2O 9− y/2 solid solutions have been prepared and characterized by X-ray powder diffraction methods. Furthermore, preliminary results on the special case of Te 4+ doping are also reported.
