Abstract
The title compounds have been synthesized from 2,2′bipyridine-3,3′-dicarboxylic acid by a multi-step reaction. These compounds were characterized by 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy and MS, and The molecular structures of their main compounds(5a-j;6a-e) were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure shows that the corresponding product also has axial chirality due to the axial chirality of the 2,2′-bipyridine-3,3′-dicarboxylic acid. Moreover, the type and number of axial chirality of these products varies with the substituents, and shows a certain regularity. This paper presents our preliminarily findings on such axially chiral compounds.
