Abstract

This is an answer to the consultation organised by UK's Department for Business, Energy, and Industrial Strategy on designing a new domestic subsidy control regime reflecting UK's strategic interests and national circumstances. We argue that The UK economy would certainly benefit from a stable, effective subsidy regime that creates clear expectations for economic actors with minimal bureaucracy. We provide our detailed opinion on the way in which the notion of subsidy needs to be defined, as well as our view on how to design a robust system for subsidy control respectful to the rule of law and UK's international obligations.
