Abstract

E-resources are the heart of any academic institutes, colleges and universities to support teaching learning and research activities. The study deals with the procedure for subscription of e-resources including e-databases and software services (grammarly and turnitin) to provide easy access to the users. The study critically analyzes some issues and challenges like systematic download vs discontinuation of access, subscription charges vs utilization of e-resources, metadata management and integration with existing library catalogue etc. faced by the staff for managing the e-resources. Licensing issues, perpetual access and discontinuity of access due to non-subscription, engulfing small publishers by big one are concerns for librarians.
