Abstract

The paper investigates the possibility of designing a fixed structure suboptimal local controller which forces the transient frequency and time errors to be small upon load changes. Provision is made such that no information exchange between subsystems is required. A state space model is oriented is such a manner that the interconnection dynamics can be visualized as overlapping subsystems.A decentralized controller based on the principle of overlapping decomposition is then designed and tested against global controller behaviour and optimal local control. The controller proved to be reliable under parameter variations and under structural perturbations. The effect of governer deadb and nonlinearity is dominant and it should be presented in the dynamic model in order to override its destabilizing function.
