Abstract
AbstractA subnormal operator is the restriction of a normal operator to an invariant subspace. This chapter surveys a variety of subnormal operators, a representation theorem that is the analogue of the spectral theorem for normal operators, and a proof of the existence of invariant subspaces for subnormal operators.
