Abstract

Abstract 1. It must seem rash for a land surveyor to trespass on the domain of his hydrographic colleagues, and I feel I am venturing into deep waters, both literally and metaphorically, in presenting these notes on the delineation of submarine topography. However, an investigation into the possibility of preparing contoured maps of shallow submerged areas by photogrammetric methods demonstrated that satisfactory depth determinations are possible in stereoscopic models, and a description of the investigations may be of some interest. Conditions for photography of submerged details will be discussed, and available literature reviewed.
