Abstract

The scattering of an acoustic wave from a point source near an absorbing half-plane introducing the Kutta–Joukowski condition is studied. The effect of absorption on the diffracted field is shown explicitly. It is found that the field produced by the Kutta–Joukowski condition will be substantially larger than the field produced in its absence when the source is near the edge. It is further observed that the Kutta–Joukowski condition and the absorption do not have much influence on the scattered field away from the diffracting plane.
