Abstract
The nomenclature and derivation of the branchial cyst are not clear. One interesting new proposal is that these cysts are “in reality, cystic lymph nodes.” 15 Most of the branchial cysts reported in the literature have occurred in the neck region. A branchial cyst in the superficial part of the floor of the mouth is not frequently encountered.
