Abstract
This paper describes the analysis and subjective testing of broadcast-quality compressed video conducted by the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS) and the Communications Research Centre's (CRC's) Advanced Television Evaluation Laboratory (ATEL). To fulfill the program objectives, a novel approach to test preparation and conduct was adopted. New methodology was employed in the development of a reference model and in the selection of test material.
