Due to the rapid and early peak of the influenza in South Carolina, we did not send letters to those who declined vaccination. Instead regular updates were sent to staff from Employee Health and the Chief Medical Officer with current local and regional surveillance data. Many unvaccinated employees rescinded their declinations and received the vaccine. Nearing the season’s end, our vaccination rate had increased to 83.7%, a 32% increase over last year’s rate.
