Abstract

Photoionization of methylphenothiazine was studied in different pore size silicoaluminophosphate microporous materials at room temperature. The photoyield of methylphenothiazine cation radical was enhanced by an order of magnitude or more by incorporation of Ni, Co and Cu transition metal ions as electron acceptors into framework sites or ion exchange sites of the microporous materials. Nickel ions had stronger effects on the photoyield than the others. The photoyield also increased with the silicoaluminophosphate pore size.
