Abstract

This article presents the importance of cataloging in the representation of knowledge of the Colombian conflict. The case of the Sistema de Bibliotecas Públicas de Medellín (SBPM) is reviewed with reference to the content and cataloging of its digital collection, “Voces que construyen tejido.” Subject headings developed by catalogers specific to the Colombian conflict, are extracted and analyzed as to frequency of occurrence. A proposal for the construction of a controlled vocabulary for the theme of armed conflict in cooperation with victims of violence is discussed.
