Abstract

Subcutaneous and mediastinal emphysema can occur on occasion following a dental procedure. The high speed dental drill and the air and water syringe are the instruments most frequently involved in theses cases. We report a case of subcutaneous emphysema and pneumomediastinum soon after a minor dental procedure. The relevant literature is reviewed, including the clinical symptoms, diagnosis, possible serious complications, and management.
