Abstract

The preliminary experimental results of supercritical fluid extraction (SFE) and supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) for carbon clusters so-called “fullerenes” have been described. Using mixtures of CO2 and toluene as the extraction medium and mobile phase, the isolation, purification and collection processes of fullerenes from carbon soot can be simplified, made convenient and environmentally safe. The scale-up possibility with an SFE/prep-SFC on-line process has been confirmed.
