Abstract

A method has been developed for studying the relationship between the rate of crack propagation and the coefficient of stress intensity and also for determining K1C of sintered and other, similar materials under conditions of double torsion in air at room and high temperatures. A study was made of subcritical crack growth in glass, cordierite, and silicon nitride; K1−v diagrams and critical coefficients of stress intensity were obtained for these materials.
