Abstract

Intramolecular energy transfer in bichromophoric laser dyes, consisting of 2,5-diphenyloxazole (PPO) and rhodamine B or rhodamine 6G linked via a methylene and ester bridge, has been investigated with a time resolution of 350 fs by monitoring the PPO donor ground state recovery. Energy transfer is described by a modified Förster model which accounts explicitly for the possible orientations of donor and acceptor transition dipole moments.
