Abstract

A technique is described for achieving better than 1 nsec timing resolution in a semiconductor system, without degrading its energy resolution performance. The technique consists of transformer-coupling a fast amplifier and discriminator in series with a charge-sensitive amplifier, which is used as the first element of a pulse-height analysis system.
