Abstract

Colonoscopy is a colorectal cancer (CRC) screening tool that allows complete exploration of colonic mucosa and the chance to resect adenomatous lesions. Poor bowel preparation has been shown to be associated with lower quality indicators of colonoscopy performance. Much emphasis has been made on procedure-related factors influencing bowel preparation quality, such as the timing of purgative administration. There is less evidence on patient-related factors that may predict a poor bowel cleansing.
