Abstract

Topical pharyngeal anesthesia has been the standard preparation for reducing the discomfort during upper gastrointestinal endoscopy (UGIE). But it is not clear whether this method effective in regard to the tolerance of procedure. The aim of this study is to assess the efficacies of the added lidocaine spray on the tip of endoscope in improving patient tolerance.
