Abstract

Iatrogenic perforation of the colon during diagnostic colonoscopy is a rare but serious complication. The surgery has been still the mainstay of therapy in patients with colonic perforations. With recent advances in both endoscopic technology (intraluminal endo-clipping, better optics), as well as increasing expertise in minimally invasive technique, there has been significant impetus to apply these concepts to iatrogenic perforation of the colon.
