Abstract
Endoscopic palliation of malignant hilar obstruction can be performed using a variety of techniques. Data suggest self-expandable metal stents (SEMS) are superior to plastic stents 1 while bilateral stents are superior to unilateral 2 with respect to stent patency and drainage adequacy. Our aim was to evaluate the technical feasibility, efficacy and outcomes following placement of bilateral SEMS (Zilver, Cook Medical) with a 6Fr delivery system for treatment of malignant hilar obstruction.
